Have you ever wondered why you have to renew drivers licenses and fishing licenses but not marriage licenses?
I mean you wouldn't buy a car with out trying it out right ? So why get married if you have not had a trial run ? They say that 50% of marriages end in divorce, that is an aweful lot even if it is just a projection say's The Americans for Divorce Reform.
Just as you have to have so many hours in to get your drivers license I think there should be a one year waiting period for marriages, and after the one year and a day if you still want to proceed with tying the knot, then go ahead. So many people these days rush into getting married. Whether it be because the girl is pregnant or for some other reason.
Now as for getting married because the girl is pregnant I think is way out of date. Which is why I also think that all girls as soon as they hit puberty should be mandated to be on some type of birth control. There are so many unwanted pregancies these days by minors, and that is really sad. Being being there are twice as many couples that want kids and can't have them.
But saying you have to marry my daughter because you got her pregant and you now have to take "responsibility" for your actions. Come on are you serious, how is getting married going to make them responsible. It proves they are not responsible, if she is already pregnant. That theory never made any sense to me.
If people had to do a trial run before they got married I think we would have alot less divorces. I mean why spend all this money for a wedding, not knowing if your going to get a long after the honey moon stage and even if you have the same views on any number of things.
What if the sex is horrible, would you want to be married to the same person, and have a horrible sex life? Which could lead to adultry and end in divorce. Granted its not all about the sex, but that would really suck.
Yes, I know there are still people that believe in no sex before marriage, that is their choice, this is my own opinion.
You may ask yourself, Rachy where the hell is all of this coming from? Is there something you want to tell us? No, this is not about me, as I am rather happy with the oleman. This has to do with my girlfriend deciding to get married after dating the guy for 3 months. I told her she was crazy, especially being he had already been married 2x before. Not that I am saying the 3rd time couldn't be the charm. But use some common sense.
And it is not that I hate marriage, it didn't go over well with me the first time. And I swore I would never do it again. Hell I was with my ex' for 14 years and ya he asked a handful of times and I always said no. Guess it was my subconcience telling me something and maybe I should have listened 12 years ago lol.
Had I followed my own advice now 17 years ago, maybe I wouldn't have such a bad taste in my mouth about marriage. But I think that now with knowing what I know now that, rushing into any thing so serious is ridiculious, take the time, give it a year or so, it just makes it all the sweeter to still be so in love with the person and not leaving anything up for chance.

HA! I couldn't agree with you more doll, and this is coming from someone who met "Mr. Wonderful" and married him two months later, oh how stupid and irresponsible the mind of a 21 yr old girl is "But I love him" Blah! I don't regret any of it I have two wonderful boys because of my stupidity, but they are now without a father and I have such an aversion to love and marriage now I am not sure if all the therapy in the world could fix it. It is setup to be way to easy to get married and very difficult to get divorced, Would be great if it was the other way around.
